Going to the beach

Last year I went with  my family too the beach! When were ready to go we got in the car. In my suit case was one soft toy,one pair of sunglasses & sun block. Then we stopped then got out of the car. We were not at the beach we were at the supermarket!! I asked my mum why are we at the supermarket? my mum said that we needed to get some food and water.

We need water because  we can't drink from the tap because the water is seawater. At the supermarket we bought 1 litre of water and some food. My dad got some cordial as well. Then we got back in the car and started to drive it took about 8 min to get to the beach house. After we left the supermarket. The first thing I wanted to do was go boggey bording but my mum and dad said that we had to unpack and strat away I knew how long that would take and I was right it took the whole evening! The next day my nan and pop came to the beach. After they unpacked we all went down to the beach.

Then I went in to the water and made two new friends one called Eve and the other called Bella. Eve is six and Bella ten. After a long day at the beach we all went to bed. On the last day of the week we were staying at the beach we were invited to have dinner but before dinner me and Bella went to the beach for about 20 minutes. Finally it was time for dinner for dinner was pizza. After pizza we had ice cream. Then I went back to my beach house and went to sleep. The next morning I packed up and went.

Messed Up Sport

This is Hub 2's 2014 entry for the Manaiakalani Film Festival.

This film is about a magician who keeps changing the sport his friends are playing. The sports players start playing netball. Netball then turns into basketball. Basketball then turns into soccer and soccer turns into rugby. Finally rugby turns into handball. The magician then puts a spell on the players, making them go to sleep. They wake up very confused as they all remember playing a different sport.

The sneaky magician almost gets away with his plan until he is spotted running away.

Stonefields School's first Triathlon!

It was great to see so many learners for LH2 participating in the triathlon today. After biking, swimming and running the long course it is not surprising our learners were very tired by the end of the day!

Snails and Slugs

Snails and Slugs!

Today we have been learning all about 'The Living World.'

One of the experiences was to observe and investigate the similarities and differences between snails and slugs.

We began we wonder about a lot of things, for example:

Why do snails move slowly?

Why do snails have tiny eyes?

Are snails carnivores or herbivores?

Are slugs and snails related?

Why do they like to stick together in large groups?

Why do they have slime or goo?

Monday, 7 April 2014

Today we spent time building our knowledge of social skills.

We took time to share what things we like and don't like.  Then came together to reflect on how we could use this knowledge to make the Stonefields environment a better place.

Crossing the DANGEROUS RIVER...

We finally got to talk about the constructions we made!

Each group took a turn to describe their toy's construction and then attempt to cross the river.

Here are some photos of our sharing:

To collaborate to create a way of getting our toy animal across the DANGEROUS RIVER!!

We were given:
x10 sheets of paper / x1 piece of string / x1 yoghurt container / x2 straws / x8 rubber bands / x1 animal

We had only 20 minutes.  Here are some of the things we constructed...

Watch this space to see whose construction reached the other side of the river safely!
