Winter Simile Poetry

Mount Ruapehu

White Snow Like A Clean White Sheet.
                                               Cold As A Cold,Cold,Winters Morning.
Skiing So Fast Like A Cheater In A Running Race.
Snowboarding So Fast Like A Penguin Sliding Down A Mountain On Its Belly.
Sometimes There Is A Flood Like A Quiet Light Water Fall.
Chair Lifts So High Like A Bird Flying In The Soft Winter Breeze.
A Warm Cafe Like A Lit Fire.
Sledding With Lots Of Bumps Like Rocks On The Road When You Go Biking.
So Loud Like Someone Singing In A Microphone.
Snowstorms Howling Like A Wolf.
Icicles As Sharp As A Sharks Teeth.
Ice So Slippery Like Water Spilt on a Wooden Floor.
Snowflakes So Delicate Like A Vase With Flowers In It.
Clouds As Fluffy As Candy Floss.
Laughter So Loud Like A Tiger Roaring.
Sunrise So Pretty Like A Tiara.

The Strom

Last night I heard a crash of trees. I was scared so I went into my parents room. I was terrified. I woke up because I was scared. I woke up at 4 o'clock in the morning. My cat was scared and frightened too. It looked like my cat was going to crazy. It was scary. It was creepy and terrifying.

The Storm

Last night when I got home I heard a scream sound. When I got to bed last night I heard bash!!! on the window last night and I had to wake up in the middle of the night. When I woke up I was surprised that my car was full of branches falling on my roof and I was so scrared if my dog was scared. If my dog was Yowling. Cause if he Yowls he will run out on the road and he will get run over by a

truck, a car, a bus or a train.

The Storm

Last night I woke up because the cat flap was squeaking all night so I did not get to sleep and I
don't even have a cat at home. I also herd a big...bang! outside my window and I got scared. The plum tree was knocked over.

WALHT share our learning with Hub 9

Today we shared our learning with Hub 9. Some of the learning we shared was our progressions, break through learning, inquiry learning, maths learning, literacy learning, our Mihi and more!
Here are a few photos of us sharing our learning!

Community Koru

Recently we had a Te Reo immersion day.  We spent time learning about what a Mihi is and creating our own one, role playing basic phrases in Te Reo and building our knowledge of the koru.

The art pieces we made represent our closest community - our family.  We drew a koru to symbolise each person in our family.

Today some of us took a risk and went on stage at assembly to share our Mihi!

Sharing our Mihi

Today we learnt how to write and read a Maori Mihi. We chose what information we wanted to include in our Mihi before practising it and sharing it with each other. We had to be really determined when we were learning how to spell the Maori words.

Trip to the Buddhist Temple

On the 27th May 2014 we went on a school trip with Hub 1 to the Buddhist Temple. It was so much FUN! I was with my Mum Caron and I was in group number three. Three is my Mum's favourite number. Sometimes children need to go to the bathroom and that's normal but it's not normal that they get stuck in there is it? But it is true because a girl got stuck in the toilet at the Buddhist Temple so... Mum had to go into the toilet next door and she had to climb over the toilet wall to save her! We went to the first place in the temple with the big golden statue. Policeman Justin asked Joe to do pushups with one hand. Joe did 10 pushups one handed. We watched a dvd and and had morning tea and did colouring in and got tattoos. We had a quiz and then said "bye" and "thank you for having us"and then we got on the bus to go back to school. We named our group team dolphin.

Our trip to the Buddhist Temple

There was a special welcome for us when we arrived at the Temple.
We got a pretend tattoo on our hand.

We all agreed that the temple was beautiful and a relaxing place to be.
We could also see that the environment was respected.

Who can remember the 3G and 4G messages we learnt? What can you share about this poster?
